Stage 5 – Triads

In Stage 5, you’ll learn to read and play triads (three-note chords) by:

– Learning about triads and dominant 7ths

– Practising chord drills

– Sight-reading excerpts with chords

Not sure if this is the right stage for you?

If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, then I recommend you do this stage.

  • Does it take you longer than 3 seconds to sight-read three-note chords?
  • Do you try to read all 3 notes of the chords when sight-reading?
  • Do you find it hard to quickly play a triad, whether the root position, the first inversion or the second inversion?
